Halloween is coming! Are you hosting a Halloween party and need to figure out what festive snacks to serve?
Are you invited to a Halloween party and want to bring something amazing but at the same time kind of spooky? Or something fall themed?
Whatever the case may be, it’s time to create a Halloween/fall inspired charcuterie board! One the kids and adults alike will go nuts for!
Last October we had a party for our son and his friends from school and I made an adorable Halloween charcuterie board. It was a total hit and super fun to make!
- First, find your canvas! Look through your cabinets for your charcuterie board, a cutting board, a large platter, a large dish, serving tray or maybe you get out your roll of butcher paper! For mine, I used a large round plastic serving dish. 18″ in diameter.
- Second, brainstorm what types of treats you want to serve and what theme you want to convey. Do you make a candy board? Sweet and salty snacks? Healthy snacks? Will you make your board spooky? Or autumn inspired? Halloween candy, candy corn, pumpkins, pumpkin spice, blacks, oranges, etc. Moods usually are spooky, warm, fun, playful, etc. Jot down your ideas! You can even look at images on Pinterest for inspiration.
- Third, now that you found your canvas, settled on your mood and have a list of what items you want on your board, it’s time to shop! Look for all the goodies and garnishes you plan to use. Visit your local farmer’s market, the grocery store, a nearby cider mill, etc. I found some items at the Dollar Tree and at our local cider mill.
- Fourth, now that you have all your supplies it is time to create your masterpiece! There is no wrong way to do this. Go where your creativity takes you. Arrange items on your board and be sure to fill in all the gaps. Example, place items around small bowls and such to make it look full. Make sure the colors are distributed evenly. You can add some garnishes to decorate and enhance the look too. Once you have the look you want, add any utensils you may need.
- Fifth, Take it all in! And most importantly, enjoy all the goodies! The kids will love what you created! But before they dig in make sure to take photos!
Enjoy!
